Dick Derrett Memorial Scholarship!
Dick Derrett was a Manitoba Soccer Referees’ Association (MSRA) volunteer, a Manitoba Soccer Association employee, referee, instructor, assessor, but most importantly a father and husband. His contribution to the game has significantly advanced the game of soccer within Manitoba and Canada. He will continue to be well respected in the Manitoba soccer community and will be missed dearly.
In honor of the late Dick Derrett, the MSRA is facilitating the administration of a scholarship to recognize outstanding dedication to the advancement of the game of soccer in Manitoba beginning in the 2022-2023 academic year. The Selection Committee will consist of members of the Derrett Family, in conjunction with members of the MSRA Board. The selection will be made without knowledge of the applicant’s identity.
Eligibility Criteria
The scholarship will be offered to a student who meets all of the following criteria:
- is enrolled full-time in a post-secondary institution in Manitoba, and;
- have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the advancement of the game of soccer in Manitoba through their contributions as a referee, and
- have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the advancement of the game of soccer in Manitoba through their contributions in other capacities such as a player, coach, administrator, volunteer, or other capacity.
