About the Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association
The Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) was created in 1982 to coordinate the operation of youth soccer within the City of Winnipeg and its surrounding areas. Through the assistance of its member organizations, WYSA has created and operates league structures for participants aged 9 to 18. WYSA currently operates a U9 - U18 Recreational League, U9 - U12 Developmental League, U13 - U17 Premier League, and an Indoor High School Soccer League. Additionally, WYSA offers other events every year such as the Boston Pizza Players Tournament and the Golden Boy Indoor Soccer Tournament, along with the Mobile Mini Soccer Program. The ultimate goal of WYSA is to make soccer available to all youth participants with an opportunity to play the beautiful game in an environment commensurate with their skills and interests.
About Soccer in Winnipeg
Winnipeg has many alternatives for your young soccer player. There are teams, leagues, clinics and academies for boys and girls aged from 3 to 18 of all different skill levels and aspirations. These opportunities can be viewed through our many member organizations, which can be found by clicking here.
In fact, soccer is the most popular youth sport in our city with more than 9,000 players aged 9-18 playing in leagues and more than twice that number enrolled in mini-soccer (ages 3-8). Soccer is played year-round in Winnipeg. WYSA offers outdoor programming that runs from April to November, while our indoor programming runs from November until March.
As the leading voice for youth soccer in the city, WYSA believes every child should have the chance to learn and enjoy the beautiful game.
We acknowledge that we are gathered on Treaty One Territory, the homeland of the Metis Nation and the traditional lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Dakota, Dene and Oji-Cree people. We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories and advocate for positive partnerships with Indigenous Communities in the spirit of reconciliation.
